Active South West is a collaboration between three local race directors with a shared passion for the benefits of outdoor activity. Initially we shared a vision of bringing the local community together through the return of Taunton Half Marathon; a popular event in the town for nearly 40 years. The future is unwritten, but it all started with a mutual respect for each other’s events and a belief that fantastic things could be achieved if we worked together.
We are Dan Brice of Channel Events, Alex Bennett of Prosper Events and Dave Urwin of Albion Running. We are all known for our enthusiasm and passion for delivering events that put a smile on peoples’ faces. With our combined energy we believe we can make bigger races feel like the personal occasion our usual events do. Underpinning it all will be the message that getting active does wonders for both physical and mental health as well as forging meaningful friendships and shared goals.

Dave Urwin, co-founder of Albion Running, discovered running after getting sober in 2009. He is passionate about the mental and physical benefits of running and keen to help others embrace this. A dedicated ultra runner, Dave is always seeking new challenges, whether it's conquering 100 miles on a trail or pushing himself to 24 hours on a track.
Dan Brice, founder of Channel UK Events CIC, has spent over 20 years in outdoor education and is passionate about encouraging more people to get active in the great outdoors. Whether it's hitting the trails across Somerset on two feet or two wheels, Dan loves the adventure. Despite his focus on trails, his passion for water and mountain activities remains strong.
Alex Bennett, founder of Prosper Events, is truly passionate about motivating individuals to take on new challenges in fitness, health, and the outdoors. Often found on trails or in the mountains, Alex loves accumulating mileage and creating unforgettable memories. He believes in the transformative power of nature, whether hiking, running, or exploring, and inspires others to embrace similar pursuits.
